The Search Continues for Liam, the Rescue Dog

The search continues for Liam, a 2 year old, black, nine pound Chihuahua mix, who slipped out of his owner's car at the Grayslake Shell station on Center and 83 on May 15. Liam was adopted from a rescue less than 2 weeks prior to his escape, and is unfamiliar with the area. Searchers have been posting flyers and talking with members of the public as part of their rescue effort.

Liam's story started when he and eight other chihuahuas were originally dropped off at Chicago Animal Care & Control in January. He had multiple bite wounds on his head and body. Colleen Collins, founder of Perfect Pooches Adoption Agency in Romeoville, took him into her rescue from CACC soon after. Liam was extremely shy and timid with new people and situations. However, through months of rehabilitation, Liam recovered from his physical wounds and was making great strides in his emotionally recovery. Dozens of people who had followed Liam's story through Collins' rescue were so overjoyed that the shy, kind dog had just been adopted to a wonderful family.

Collins, who fostered Liam for his 4 month rehabilitation, says he is very shy and skittish with new people, but is not aggressive. Due to his past trauma and fear of strangers, he is guessed to be in deep hiding. She is asking people to check their garages, sheds, under decks and in window wells for Liam. Please contact 630-664-8865 immediately to report any sightings, including a description of where the dog was and where he was headed. Please do not try to catch him or call him as that may scare him and cause him to run in fear and into danger.
