Victories for Rolling Meadows, Maine West

The Rolling Meadows boys volleyball team won its play-in match of the Niles West regional with a 25-8, 25-6 victory over Rickover Naval Academy (Chicago) on Monday.

Logan Reese (7 kills), Tommy Murphy (6 kills) and Enrique Avellaneda (5 kills) led the Mustangs attack set by Avellaneda, who was 23 of 25 with 17 assists.

Top servers for Meadows were Ivan Gonzales (12-of-12, 1 ace), Murphy (6-of-7, 2 aces) and Kyle Kornblum (7-of-7, 1 ace).

Meadows advances to a 6:30 p.m. semifinal on Tuesday against Prospect.

Maine West d. Senn: Maine West won its play-in match of the Elk Grove regional with a 25-5, 25-9 victory. The Warriors will face Glenbrook North in Tuesday's 6 p.m. semifinal.
