Why reward young bracketologist?

Why are folks rewarding this 12-year-old kid? Didn't he enter a contest that was meant for those 18 years and older?

When I was 35 years old, I entered a golf championship with others members of my golf league, I had the lowest score in the tournament; I played out of my mind; better than I had ever had. However, in my current handicap flight, I was ineligible for the trophy because I was not in the Championship flight.

A hard lesson for me to learn and I will always check the rules because of this.

By rewarding this 12-year-old, just because he had the winning bracket seems a bit much. A better lesson would have been to show him where he could have entered a contest he was eligible for.
