LWV: Kudos to all who participated in candidate forums
Kudos to the voters who attended and the candidates who participated in candidate forums presented by the League of Women Voters of Arlington Heights-Mount Prospect-Buffalo Grove Area.
Nonpartisan League moderators asked candidates questions submitted by audience members. The candidates learned which issues concerned voters. Voters heard candidates explain their priorities, opinions and philosophies.
The League of Women Voters is a 95-year-old national organization that does not support, oppose or recommend candidates for office. Our purpose is to encourage civic responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. If there is controversy, our interest is to bring balance and fairness to the discussion and insure that all parties are heard. Any citizen over the age of 18 is invited to join LWV.
The LWV of Arlington Heights-Mount Prospect-Buffalo Grove Area wants to thank Elk Grove Village, Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect for the use of boardrooms in their village halls. These modern building are blessed with cable production facilities, staff and cameras.
Before Election Day residents could go to local cable stations and village websites to watch replays of candidate forums. Visit www.lwvah.org to find links to candidate forums on YouTube, playback schedules and video-on-demand links. You'll also find links to voter information at Vote411, Smart Vote and the Cook County Clerk's website. You will find information on League membership and how to support the League Education Fund with a tax-deductible donation.
The League wants to thank MPTV and EGTV for broadcasting candidate forums. Lorelle Communications, Inc. deserves tremendous praise for continuing to produce and videotape the League's candidate forums at the Arlington Heights Village Hall as a service to this community.
Also a word of appreciation to the Daily Herald for printing announcements about LWV candidate forums and other events during the year.
