New School Crossing Installed in Bartlett

A school crossing and school crossing sign are being installed at Carriage Way and Schick Rd.

The Wayne Township Road District is installing a new pedestrian crossing, complete with ADA concrete ramps and drop off area for students, connected by an asphalt path which will be ready for use soon. The school crossing signs and stripping are also included.

All construction work was done in-house by Highway Commissioner Martin McManamon and the Wayne Township Road District employees. The total cost of this project was less than $4,000 which saved taxpayers approximately $30,000 dollars by doing the work without the expense of contractors.

"We have the equipment, the trucks and a labor force. The road crew just needed someone to show them how to do it," said Highway Commissioner McManamon, a former road construction superintendent.

This new walkway now gives safe access to Bartlett High School for the Brookwood neighborhood subdivision.
