Son of Wood Dale alderman gets 24 years for sexual assaults

The son of Wood Dale Alderman Eugene Wesley was sentenced Thursday to 24 years in prison for the sexual assaults of at least two young girls and the sexual abuse of an 18-year-old co-worker at an Addison grocery store.

Jordan Wesley, 20, of the 400 block of East Itasca Street, pleaded guilty in September to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The investigation was launched in September 2013 after one of the girls' mother became suspicious and took her daughter to a hospital for an evaluation.

Wesley later said he had "consensual sex" with the girl, who is not of legal age to consent, on at least two occasions.

Wesley also confessed to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in June 2013 and molesting or exposing himself to five other girls between the ages of 11 and 13 at an Itasca park.

Before his arrest in this case, Wesley had recently completed probation in a juvenile battery case, authorities said.

"My daughter was a good kid before this but she has many problems now," the mother of one of the girls wrote in a victim impact statement that was read during the sentencing. "Jordan Wesley stole from my daughter her self-esteem. And she began to cut herself. She cries a lot at night."

Another mother wrote of finding her daughter, not once, but twice attempting suicide.

"He ruined my daughter's childhood and changed our lives forever," she wrote.

Assistant State's Attorney Mike Pawl sought a 50-year sentence, of a possible 120 years.

"This is a horrible, despicable guy," Pawl said. "It's not a case of if he will offend again but when."

Assistant Public Defender Michael Mara sought a 15-year sentence for Wesley, whom he said suffers from learning disabilities.

"He is a 20-year-old man but mentally and emotionally he is nowhere near that age," Mara said.

Judge John Kinsella, handing down the sentence, called the assaults disturbing and said he doubts Wesley understands the lasting impact his crimes will have on the girls.

"You acted in a selfish, manipulative way to take advantage of those you could," Kinsella said.

"No matter what I do here today, it is likely the girls you victimized will always suffer the consequences." Mara said neither he or Wesley's family had a comment on the imposed sentence.

Sentencing guidelines will require Wesley to serve 19 years before being eligible for sex offender parole.

He will receive credit for the 432 days he has been in custody, held on $500,000 bail.
