Aurora police investigting abduction attempt
Aurora police are investigating an alleged abduction attempt Friday morning involving a Jefferson Middle School student.
Police said a 12-year-old girl told them she was approached by two men who tried to lure her into their older model red four-door car about 8 a.m. near the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Gladstone Street.
Police said the girl, who was on her way to school, turned and ran to a nearby friend's house.
She told police both men were black and appeared to be around 30. The passenger wore a black T-shirt and had a goatee.
West Aurora School District 129 spokesman Tony Martinez said officials alerted parents and staff to the situation via email and an automated phone calling system as soon as they were made aware.
Anyone with information about the men or their car is asked to call police at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
