Hall blasts Boomers past CornBelters
NORMAL - The Schaumburg Boomers snapped the longest winning streak in the history of the Normal CornBelters at seven games with a 4-3 victory Wednesday night.
Gerard Hall belted a 3-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Hall (2 hits) has blasted 4 homers in his last three games. Alexi Colon, Tony Delmonico and Michael Valadez also had 2 hits for the Boomers (49-34).
Cal Bowling worked 5 innings to earn his team-leading seventh victory. Reliever Justin Erasmus worked 3 shutout innings and stranded the tying run at third in the eighth. Dexter Price became the first pitcher in team history to notch 20 saves with a perfect ninth.
The Boomers seek to win the series today at 7 p.m. when they start right-hander Seth Webster (5-4, 3.01 ERA) against righty Michael Schweiss (4-2, 6.10).
