Bad Company singer, Beatles tribute headline Septemberfest
Summer's official start is this weekend, but details of its unofficial end over Labor Day weekend are beginning to take shape for Schaumburg residents.
Most of the headline musical acts for the village's 44th annual Septemberfest celebration from Saturday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 1, have just been booked.
While the Saturday night's entertainment is still being worked out, former Bad Company lead singer Brian Howe will be performing the songs of his old band from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31. Howe was with Bad Company from 1985 to 1995.
Schaumburg Special Events Coordinator Roxane Benvenuti said the goal for Labor Day, Sept. 1, was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' arrival in America and showcase the music of that era.
The end result is a night heavy on the letter 'L': Lance Lipinsky & the Lovers opening for Liverpool Legends.
Lipinsky's rockabilly band will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. that day, while Liverpool Legends will take the stage from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Lipinsky plays Jerry Lee Lewis in the Chicago production of “Million Dollar Quartet.”
While Saturday's band is still being booked, Benvenuti said planners hope to present a different and distinct style of music from the following two nights.
This year's theme for Septemberfest and the Labor Day parade is “A Superhero Adventure.” Septemberfest is held on Schaumburg's municipal grounds, 101 Schaumburg Court, near the intersection of Schaumburg Road and Summit Drive.
