A case for lowering speed limits?
It is staggering that the economic and societal harm from vehicle crashes, according to a recent study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, amounts to $871 billion in a single year and 32,999 people were killed and 3.9 million injured.
Did you know that nearly three-fourths of these costs are paid through taxes, insurance premiums and congestion-related costs, such as travel delay, excess fuel consumption and increased environmental impacts? Safety is a huge issue.
Maybe decreasing the speed limits back to where they were would save lives.
