Conant falls short against Benet
Brian Polaski allowed 1 run on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts through 7 innings before visiting Benet broke through for 6 runs in the top of the eighth inning against Conant relievers to claim a 7-1 nonconference baseball victory Thursday.
Pat Peterson tripled and earned a pitching victory in relief for Benet.
Steve Bola, Brady Pelesh, Dan Modelski, Zach Gale and Jimmy Brady each had hits for Conant (5-13).
Notre Dame 4, Rolling Meadows 1: The visiting Dons made good use of 4 hits in earning a nonconference victory over the Mustangs (7-7) as Alex Niecikowski suffered the loss.
Erik Schurtz went 2-for-3 and improved his batting average this spring to .500, and Bobby Suchecki drove in the run for Meadows.
Sophomore lefty Scott Kutschke pitched 3 inning and earned the win while senior right-hander Patrick Dillon tossed 4 innings and got the save for Notre Dame (11-4).
Highland Park 10, Maine West 0 (6 inn.): Giants starter Liam Carter was tough on the Warriors, striking out seven and allowing 3 hits in a 6-inning complete game win.
Chris Selgrad had 2 hits in 3 at-bats for the Warriors (4-10).
