Probation for Schaumburg man who stabbed puppy
A 75-year-old Schaumburg man who threatened to kill a neighbor's puppy if his owners didn't keep him quiet pleaded guilty to stabbing the family pet.
Anthony Haynes, of the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive, was sentenced to 24 months probation and ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution in exchange for his guilty plea Thursday to animal torture, a class 3 felony, court records show.
The judge also ordered Haynes to pay $649 in fines.
Haynes stabbed the puppy last October, reportedly with a metal spike he fashioned with that purpose in mind, prosecutors said.
The puppy, who underwent surgery after the attack, survived.
