Bernanke set good example for all
As Fed chairman Ben Bernanke’s term comes to an end on Friday, we should pause to remember the great work he performed at the head of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors. Bernanke’s aggressive and creative monetary stimulus policies prevented the Great Recession of 2008-09 from becoming a second great depression. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
Bernanke has inherited the George Washington tradition of energetic government. Washington, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison were no friends of limited government. They led the constitutional convention of 1787 to create a U.S. Constitution which gave the central government power to address any problem which the country faced in 1787 and would later face in future centuries. The Founding Fathers trashed the thought of limited central government when they rid the country of the Articles of Confederation.
Our political leaders of today need to have the courage of the Founding Fathers, follow the example of Ben Bernanke, and exercise the power found in the U.S. Constitution to serve all the people of the United States of America in every aspect of their lives without limitation.
