For adults interested in lifelong educational experiences, High School District 211’s Continuing Education courses are the perfect way to keep learning for individuals ages 18 and older.
The Continuing Education course catalog is available online for Spring 2014 and offers a wide range of courses that cater to individual interests and skill-building needs. Course topics range from foreign language, home improvement, fitness, personal enrichment, cooking, and more. Enrollment is available until four days before a course starts, and if seats are still available, same-day registration is allowed.
Courses are offered for a relatively low cost. Although the district advertises to community members, anyone can enroll in a continuing education course. Senior citizens, over the age of 62, also can apply for a District 211 Gold Card that allows them to receive discounted course fees.
A Continuing Education course catalog will be mailed in January, with most classes scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 3, 2014. Individuals may register for courses, beginning Jan. 21, 2014, by calling (847) 755-6820, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Callers should have the 2014 Spring Course Catalog and a Discover, Visa, or MasterCard available. Walk-in or mail-in registration also begins on Jan. 21, at the G.A. McElroy Administration Center, 1750 S. Roselle Road in Palatine, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration forms also may be faxed to (847) 755-6867 24 hours a day starting at 9 a.m. on Jan. 21.
Continuing Education has been available to community members for more than 50 years, and continues to grow. Each year, there are a variety of courses available, with several different sections to accommodate busy schedules. Courses not only provide learning opportunities for the community, but also teaching opportunities. Instructors are selected for their expertise and experience in their field of study, as well as their talent for teaching. Individuals interested in teaching a class, or those with a new course idea, should contact the Continuing Education office at (847) 755-6820.
