Rep. Conroy highlights free weatherization program for residents

VILLA PARK, Ill. – Rep. Conroy, D-Villa Park, is encouraging residents to determine if they qualify for the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP), which aims to cut energy costs for low-income households.

“This program is meant to help families offset the higher energy costs they incur during the winter months,” said Conroy. “I urge residents that are in need of financial relief to see if they are eligible to participate in this program.”

The program is designed to reduce energy consumption and high utility bills for families in need. Energy conservation measures such as air sealing, attic and wall insulation, furnace repair or replacements, and window/door work are provided free of charge to eligible families. The program's maximum benefit is $7,500.

“The benefit of the program is two-fold. Families that are eligible, receive funds to winterize their homes, which in turn, helps them save money through lower utility bills,” said Conroy. “With many families in our communities struggling to get by any savings on bills and utilities can go a long way.”

For more information about IHWAP or for assistance in applying for the program please contact Rep. Conroy's full-time constituent services office at (630) 415-3520 or RepDebConroy@gmail.com.
