Library Invites Teens and Adults To Martial Arts Demo and Book Launch Party

Teens and adults are invited to the Martial Arts Demo and Book Launch party celebrating the release of Show Me a Sign, a young adult novel by author and travel presenter Susan Miura. The event will take place from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9 in the Adult Classroom of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Books will be available for purchase and signing following the program. Registration is required for this event.

In Show Me a Sign, friendships, faith and courage are challenged when 17-year-old Nathan Boliva becomes the prime suspect in the kidnapping of deaf and beautiful Haylie Summers. Both characters attend a high school attended by deaf and hearing students, similar to Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary School in Schaumburg, where all of the students learn to sign.

Cake, candy and beverages will be provided to attendees, who will have several opportunities to win various prizes, including copies of the book. After a brief synopsis of the book by the author, there will be a self-defense demonstration by an instructor from S.B. Kim's Martial Arts Academy in Schaumburg.

To register, call the Teen Desk at (847) 923-3240.
