Dist. 15 Foundation unveiling Palatine-opoly game
This weekend’s Downtown Palatine Street Fest will feature plenty of live music, local cuisine and family entertainment.
It’s also where the District 15 Educational Foundation will unveil its very own Palatine-opoly board game.
Just like the classic Parker Brothers version, players can purchase real estate as they make their way around the board. But instead of buying Marvin Gardens and Park Place, Palatine businesses, landmarks and organizations fill the spaces.
Foundation board member Jennifer DeFranco got the idea while visiting her parents downstate. Her dad, a business owner, took part in the city’s Alton-opoly.
Palatine mainstays from Spunky Dunkers to Brandt’s covered the cost of manufacturing the game by sponsoring squares on the board, which also includes pictures from around the village.
Each game can be purchased for $25. Quantities are limited.
Proceeds benefit the foundation, which runs a mini-grant program for teachers to enhance and supplement the educational experience of District 15 students.
Although the foundation isn’t allowed to sell Palatine-opoly at Street Fest, attendees can stop by the organization’s booth and get more information. Or, visit ccsd15.net.
