Local Author Presents “Schaumburg of my Ancestors” At Library

Local author LaVonne Presley will paint a picture of Schaumburg Township in the early 1900s in “Schaumburg of My Ancestors” from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11 in the Rasmussen North Room of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Presley's book of the same title will be available for purchase and signing after her presentation.

Audience members will take a trip back in time to the red barns and white farmhouses of Schaumburg's past, where Presley's father, William Thies, grew up on a Meacham Road farm. As a descendant of a Schaumburg Township settler, Presley will discuss the lifestyle of her ancestors and their fellow farmers, including their children, chores, education, crops, social activities, foods, animals and more.
