Go pink to show your support Komen 3-Day walkers Saturday in Mt. Prospect
On Saturday, Aug. 10, the second day of the Chicago Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, walkers will be entering Mount Prospect on Golf Road at Route 83, and head northwest toward Melas Park. The walkers re-enter Mount Prospect at Euclid Avenue and Route 83 and head east toward Wolf Road. The walkers will enter Mount Prospect about 8 a.m. and leave about 5 p.m.
“Day 2 is the hardest for the walkers as the adrenaline rush from Day 1 has worn off and the end is nowhere in sight,” organizer Tarina Wimmer said. “You can help the walkers by adopting a block along the route, providing the walkers encouragement and support — smiling faces and applause make such a difference. Support these dedicated, hardworking walkers for one or up to three hours. Every bit helps.”
In addition to individuals, families, churches, schools and neighborhood can create a decorated area filled with music or refreshments.
New this year: Show your “pink” support for the walkers by decorating your house along the route. There will be a contest for The Best Show of PINK Support!
For more information and to be assigned a block, contact Tarina Wimmer at (847) 269-6277 or email the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission thinkpinkinmp@gmail.com.
