Submitted by Village of Algonquin

The Algonquin Founders’ Days continues through Sunday, July 28 at Algonquin Lakes Park, 700 Lake Plumleigh Way. Several road closures and detours will be in effect for the event.

The Algonquin Founders’ Days Parade will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27. The parade route will begin at Eastgate Drive, travel west on Algonquin Road to Main Street, and then travel south to Washington Street. All spectators should remain north of Washington Street; anyone in the construction area to the south will be asked to move.

Be advised of the following closures and detours:

타 Algonquin Road (Route 62): The eastbound lanes will be closed between Main Street and Eastgate Drive beginning at 10 a.m. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on Algonquin Road between Main Street and Eastgate Drive.

타 Main Street (Route 31): Closed between Algonquin Road and Edgewood Drive beginning at 10 a.m. Traffic will be detoured west to Hanson Road. No traffic will be allowed onto northbound Main Street side streets of La Fox River Drive, Division Street, or Jayne Street other than residents that live in that subdivision.

Motorists are advised of traffic delays and should seek alternate routes if possible.

The Algonquin Founders’ Days Fireworks Spectacular will take place at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Riverfront Park.

Be advised of the following closures and restrictions:

타 Harrison Street: Closed between Algonquin Road and Edward Street from 5 to 11 p.m. Further, no parking of vehicles will be allowed within this section of North Harrison Street on July 28.

타 Algonquin Road Bridge: No vehicles or pedestrians will be permitted to remain on the Algonquin Road Bridge over the Fox River during the time period of 7 to 11 p.m. July 28. The bridge will be kept open for the flow of pedestrian traffic to Riverfront Park before the fireworks.

There will be no pedestrian crossing of Algonquin Road permitted at River Road before, during, or after the fireworks. All pedestrian traffic must cross Algonquin Road at either Harrison Street or Eastgate Drive. At the conclusion of the fireworks, all people wishing to cross the Fox River to go eastbound on Algonquin Road will be required to cross Algonquin Road at Harrison Street to the south side of Algonquin Road and then proceed eastbound.

Shuttle buses will be available for the Founders’ Days Fireworks Spectacular beginning at 7 p.m.

Founders’ Days will have free shuttle bus service for the festival on Friday and Saturday night beginning at 5 p.m. and running one hour after the park closes. Additional information is available online.
