Cops: Bloomingdale sex offender went to library to look at child porn
A Bloomingdale sex offender was arrested Wednesday after police say he picked an unlikely place to view child pornography — the public library.
Scott Baudin, 58, of the 100 block of Lakeview Lane, is scheduled to appear Thursday in DuPage County court for bond setting.
Police said his arrest capped a detailed investigation that began several weeks ago when a patron at the Bloomingdale Public Library reported seeing him view suspected child pornography on a public computer.
Afterward, police obtained a warrant to search Baudin’s apartment and recovered numerous child pornography photos, according to Investigations Watch Cmdr. John Krueger.
Krueger said Baudin was taken into custody without incident at his home Wednesday after prosecutors authorized six counts of child pornography possession.
Baudin previously was convicted of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child in Cook County. He was 44 at the time, according to public records.
