Oatmeal Lacies

3 sticks (1½ cups) butter

¾ cup sugar

1½ cups flour

2¼ cups quick-cooking oatmeal

1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Powdered sugar, for garnish

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until well blended. Add flour, oats and vanilla and mix thoroughly.

Roll dough into walnut sized balls and put onto cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Flatten balls with juice glass dipped in sugar or flour. Bake about 9 minutes or just until brown around the edges. Sift powdered sugar over cookies.

Makes about 3½ dozen cookies.
