"Fiddler on the Roof" on stage July 12-21 at Cutting Hall

The Palatine Park District is home to the Second Suburb Players, a community theater group. This year, the group has expanded to include all ages so families can work on the annual production together. From July 12 to 21, Second Suburb Players presents one of Broadway's longest-running shows, “Fiddler on the Roof.” The show will be held in historic Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, a facility of Palatine Park District, located at 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine.

“Fiddler on the Roof” takes place in the little village of Anatevka. Tevya, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. With recognizable songs including Tradition, If I Were a Rich Man, and Matchmaker, the show is a delight for theater goers of all ages.

The show will be presented on July 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 7:30pm and on July 14 and 21 at 3:00pm. A special highlight show will also be performed on Thursday, July 18 at 10:30am. Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 at the door for adults, and $10 in advance or $12 at the door for students, seniors and children. Tickets for the Special Highlight Show on July 18 are $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at www.cuttinghall.org, by phone at 847-202-5222, or in person at the box office, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine. The box office is open from 2:00pm until 6:00pm, Wednesday through Saturday, and one hour before show times. A $1.50 convenience fee will be charged per ticket for online orders only. No refunds or exchanges. All ticket sales are final.
