Ingleside man admits to selling fatal drugs to friend
An Ingleside man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lake County court to selling a fatal dose of a potent pain medication to a friend.
Brian Stedronsky, 32, of the 35000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of attempted drug-induced homicide in front of Judge Mark Levitt.
Stedronsky can be sentenced up to 10 years in prison when he returns to court Aug. 15. He is held in Lake County jail on $300,000 bond.
Defense attorney John Bailey and Assistant State’s Attorney Suzanne Willett would not comment about the plea deal following the court hearing.
Stedronsky and his mother, Carolyn, were initially charged with drug-induced homicide Dec. 4 for supplying patches of the highly potent drug Fentanyl to Jeffrey Ferris after a night of partying on Sept. 18, 2012, authorities said.
Ferris, 30, was found dead in his home in the 34000 block of Oden Drive in Ingleside shortly after the drug sale, authorities said. Police said Ferris cut open the patch and ingested the drug.
According to drugs.com, Fentanyl is a highly addictive medication used to control chronic pain. Authorities said the patch was prescribed to another person living in Stedronsky’s home following back surgery.
Carolyn Stedronsky, 52, also of the 35000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in Ingleside, agreed to a guilty plea of unlawful possession of drugs, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Following her plea agreement, she testified that said she sold the patch to her son for $20.
Carolyn Stedronsky was released from jail after posting 10 percent of her $100,000 bond. She is due back in court July 22.
Had the two elected to go to trial and were found guilty of the original charges of drug-induced homicide, they could have been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
