Wisconsin invites you to join us for free fun
Free fun? When's the last time you were told something was free and it actually came with no strings attached? Well, this weekend in Wisconsin we do have something for free, and there are no strings attached!
We Wisconsinites would like to invite our family, friends, and neighbors in Illinois and other states to join us for our “Free Fun” weekend, in our state's rivers, lakes, trails, and on Sunday in state parks. So pack the truck, head up north, and enjoy the weekend, because the fun is on us. Here's what you'll find:
Free fishing
On June 1 and 2, Wisconsin residents and our friends from Illinois and other states, can fish anywhere for free in Wisconsin. This includes our inland trout and Great Lakes trout and salmon fishing. If you're a first time angler, attend one of our free fishing clinics hosted around the state. You can also borrow free fishing equipment at 50 state parks, DNR offices and partner organizations.
Free trail use
Are you a hiker? Lace up your shoes and c'mon, because on June 1 and 2, all state trail pass fees for all DNR-owned properties are waived.
Free admission to Wisconsin's parks on Sunday only
You may already have firsthand knowledge about Wisconsin's beautiful parks. On June 2, there are no state park vehicle admission sticker fees on all DNR-owned properties.
Ride free ATV/UTV weekend June 1-2
Don't forget to bring your ATV/UTV on June 1 and 2, because you can ride free on public trails open to such use. You also don't need to have your machine registered in Wisconsin, and nonresident ATV/UTV owners don't need a trail pass on these days.
All of these great, family friendly activities are part of the Department of Natural Resources “Free Fun” weekend” on June 1-2. Whether you are a long time visitor or contemplating your first trip, Wisconsin is waiting to welcome you, so join us. It's free. And it will be fun.
