More charges filed against former Antioch EMT
A former Antioch-area volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician already facing charges of having sex with an underage girl pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges involving a second victim.
Matthew Bielecki, 40, of the 43000 block of Mary Avenue in Antioch, shook his head in shock as each of the new 29 counts of sex-related crimes — including criminal sex assault, aggravated criminal sex abuse, and possession of child pornography — were described to him by Lake County Judge James Booras.
Bielecki’s defense attorney Joy Gossman pleaded not guilty to the charges and would not comment about the case after Bielecki’s arraignment hearing.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Grindel said the second female victim has come forward with complaints that Bielecki took pictures of her before having sex with her. Authorities said she is under age 17.
He would not provide additional details about the case involving the second victim.
Bielecki has been held in Lake County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail since August 2012 after he was charged with various sex crimes involving a 15-year-old female, authorities said.
In that case, Bielecki is accused of giving the victim alcohol and taking pictures of her for a modeling portfolio before having sex with her.
Bielecki was once employed as a firefighter at the Antioch Fire Department and as an EMT at the Antioch Rescue Squad, officials said, but he hasn’t worked with either department in more than 10 years.
He is due back in court June 19.
