North Suburban Youth Jazz Ensemble Performed First Concert

On Monday, May 20th, the North Suburban Youth Jazz Ensemble performed in it's first ever concert. Through out the past 16 weeks, students came together from a variety of schools in Lake and McHenry counties to rehearse at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center. Students performed a wide variety of music in rock, Latin, and swing styles which included many improvised solos. North Suburban Youth Jazz aims to offer a supplemental jazz band experience that will enrich students' participation in their own middle school music programs. NSYJ hopes to give students the opportunity to meet and perform with like-minded student musicians from other surrounding area schools, foster a life long love of music and to offer other community enrichment opportunities.

North Suburban Youth Jazz is also holding auditions for it's 8 week summer course on Monday, June 3rd at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center from 6-8pm. Anyone interested can go to www.nsyouthjazz.com for more information or email at nsyouthjazz@gmail.com.
