Conant earns regional title shot

Conant softball coach Cathyann Smith, who guided the Cougars to Mid-Suburban League championships in 2011 and 2012, will have her team playing in a regional championship on Saturday in Glen Ellyn.

The No. 8-seeded Cougars improved to 16-9 on Wednesday with a 5-3 victory over Glenbard West, which was seeded No. 11 in its own Class 4A regional.

Conant will face top-seeded St. Charles East on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Saints advanced with a 9-2 victory over Hoffman Estates on Tuesday.
