See heirloom peonies June 2 at Merkle Cabin at Spring Valley

Unique heirloom peonies are blooming at Spring Valley.

Schaumburg Park District will offer an opportunity to view a stunning display of heirloom peonies at Peonies Aplenty from noon to 4 p.m., June 2 at Spring Valley's Merkle Log Cabin, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

Schaumburg Community Garden Club members, who maintain the peonies, will be on hand to discuss peony propagation and cultivation. The program also will offer information on the rich history of the peonies and the failed Depression-era business venture that established Spring Valley's peonies.

No registration or fee is required. The log cabin is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Spring Valley's main parking lot.
