Cast a line with dad and grandpa Father's Day Weekend!

Fish, food and fun are promised at the Schaumburg Park District's annual Father's Day Weekend Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 15 at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road. Fishers are divided into age groups of 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-17 and a father's group. Prizes will be awarded for shortest fish, longest fish, most fish caught and most unique catch in each age group.

“We're looking forward to seeing a great turnout at the event.” says Jen Gorczyca, aquatics supervisor for the District. “It will be a beautiful day with lots of smiling faces having fun.”

Participants receive a hot dog, chips and soda. Fishers must bring their own poles and bait.

Pre-registration ends at 5 p.m., June 14. Pre-registration fee is $8 for residents and $12 for non-residents. Day-of registration is $10 for residents and $14 for non-residents.
