Pet microchip event:

Vernon Hills police will host a pet microchipping event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at the police department garage, 754 Lakeview Parkway. Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be leashed. If the dog might bite, a muzzle is suggested. Cost is $15 per pet, cash only. The pet will then be registered with the VHPD and the Lake County Animal Care and Control. For an additional fee, the pet owner can also register with the chip provider to receive other services. Contact Community Service Officer Lon Paulausky at (847) 362-4449. Because the event will be held in the garage (closest to Phillip Road), it will not be affected by the weather.
