Learn about planting with native plants at Spring Valley this April

Learn how to incorporate native plants into home gardens at Spring Valley.

Going Wild in the Tame Garden, offered at 7 to 8 p.m., April 9 and 9 to 10 a.m., April 13 at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, will showcase native plants.

These plants are esteemed for their environmental benefits and hardiness, but many gardeners are hesitant to incorporate them into their carefully managed gardens and planted beds. Donna Johnson, a master gardener, will help familiarize participants with many of the Chicago area's beautiful natives and suggest some unique, creative and visually stunning ways of incorporating them into the home landscape.
