District 41 mum on teacher contract agreement
The Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 school board and its teachers union have agreed to a new four-year contract, although both sides remain mum about what it contains.
The board unanimously approved the agreement Monday.
The old four-year agreement expired June 30, 2012. The new pact is set to run through the 2015-16 school year.
School board member Sam Black, who was on the district’s negotiating team, said at this week’s board meeting he was proud of the agreement.
“I’m proud of our team. I’m proud of their team. It was all very civil,” Black said. “It met all of our interests in this agreement.”
Brian Bonkowski, the chief negotiator for the Glen Ellyn Education Association and an eighth-grade social studies teacher, said Wednesday the union and board plan to issue a joint news release about the new contract, but there was no immediate indication as to when that might come.
The district includes four elementary schools and one junior high.
