Des Plaines Police Host Senior Citizen Police Academy

The Des Plaines Police Department and the Frisbie Senior Center will be hosting the 2013 Senior Citizen Police Academy, 10 AM –Noon, Tuesday mornings beginning March 19, 2013, at the Frisbie Center, 52 E. Northwest Highway. This academy will run for 10 weeks, with a graduation ceremony planned for Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

According to Des Plaines Police Officer Colin Johnson, the Citizen Police Academy will include presentations by the Des Plaines Police Department's Detective Bureau, Evidence Technicians, Tactical Response Team, and Negotiators.

“The Academy provides an opportunity for citizens to get an understanding of the Des Plaines Police Department and its role in the community. The majority of our classes will be held at the Frisbie Senior Center,” Officer Johnson said.

The 2013 Senior Citizen Police Academy will be limited to 25 participants. The class does fill quickly. For additional information or to register contact the Frisbie Senior Center at 847-768-5944.
