Fundraiser Jan. 26 to help combat melanoma
Willie's Defensive Line is hosting its first big fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Murphy's of Arlington Heights. Everyone is welcome! Murphy's is offering free pizza and salad from 6 to 9 p.m. They will have live entertainment, raffles, silent auctions, a guest speaker at 7 p.m., and more!
Raffle and silent auction items include sporting event tickets, Marriott Lincolnshire tickets, restaurant gift certificates, Chicago Bears items, wine and liquor baskets, children's game baskets, salon gift certificates, pet baskets, and an autographed guitar!
Eric Wilcox has been fighting melanoma since March 2010. With his wife Tracie, they have 3 amazing children and live in the Schaumburg area. Eric was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma in 2012, when the melanoma spread to his liver. In January 2013, they found out that the melanoma had spread to about 20 areas of his brain.
Tracie started Willie's Defensive Line, a non-profit organization to raise money for education and research for melanoma. Its main focus is to help bring more treatment options to the Chicago area. All profits will be donated; they do not keep any of the funds raised.
For this event, they have chosen to donate all profits to Skin of Steel of Glenview. Skin of Steel based on par with the level of expertise on the Coasts. Too often Chicago patients cannot get top tier treatment locally, yet melanoma is now the fastest growing cancer world-wide with 1 person dying from it every hour, and with 1 in 5 Chicagoans developing skin cancer, Skin of Steel is focused on improving this situation for Chicago.
