Glen Ellyn Not-For-Profit Receives Grant Award

The Glen Ellyn Youth and Family Counseling Service (GEYFCS) is pleased to announce it's recognition as an organization making a difference in the larger Glen Ellyn community and grant award received in December from the Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation.

GEYFCS Executive Director Don Hane stated that the grant award “will be used to help underwrite and supplement those reduced fees charged to GEYFCS Community Counseling Program clients.” The GEYFCS is a community based mental health service located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, providing professional counseling services and mental health access predominantly to locally identified, at-risk and higher-risk youth and their families who otherwise would be unable to access recommended mental health services due to affordability issues or resource limitations. The Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation was founded in 1984 with the proceeds of the sale of Chicago's Ridgeway Hospital, a nonprofit psychiatric facility focusing on low-income adolescents. One of its primary funding areas is the support of nonprofit agencies which provide medical and psychological services to economically disadvantaged children and adolescents, thereby continuing the original mission of the hospital. As of September 30, 2012, it has provided $30 million in grants and program-related investments to a variety of health care and social service agencies, as well as scholarship funds and medical research awards.
