Patel shoots Elk Grove past Z-B; Barrington stops Prairie Ridge
Elk Grove senior guard Kishan Patel scored a game-high 27 points and made five 3s to help the Grenadiers in a 65-57 victory over Zion-Benton in the first round of Jacobs holiday tournament play in a noon game Saturday.
Austin Amann finished with 17 points and Bryan Alcazar had 8 for Elk Grove (7-4), which is tied for first place in the Mid-Suburban East.
Zion-Benton (9-3) suffered its second straight loss after falling Friday night to Mundelein in North Suburban Lake play. The Zee-Bees were led in scoring by Milik Yarbrough with 22 points.
Barrington 52, Prairie Ridge 41: A balanced scoring effort helped the Broncos earn a victory in their evening opener at Jacobs on Saturday.
Scott Nelson led the way for Barrington with a game-high 16 points, including a pair of 3s. Robby Vollman had 9, Zach Bart had 8 and Brad Zaumseil 6 for the Broncos (7-6), who managed to outscore the Wolves in each quarter.
