Elk Grove Republicans nominate slate of township candidates

The Republican Organization of Elk Grove Township held a caucus on Tuesday night to nominate a slate of candidates for the April 9 consolidated election, officials said.

Committeeman and current Township Clerk Mike Sweeney was nominated to run for township supervisor as Nanci Vanderweel will be retiring at the end of her term.

Trustee Greg O’Brien was nominated to run for township clerk to replace Sweeney. Incumbent Assessor Connie Carosielli and Highway Commissioner Chuck Serchuk were slated to run for re-election.

Incumbent trustees George Busse, Andrea Koshaba, Suellen Saturn were also slated by the organization to run for another term in 2013. Newcomer Dale Niewiardowski was slated to run for township trustee to replace O’Brien. Niewiardowski is a deputy committeeman for the Republican Organization of Elk Grove Township.

The Elk Grove Democrats did not hold a caucus to nominate a slate of candidates for the April election, meaning the party won’t run anybody for the offices.
