Y.O.T.I Share the Warmth for Homeless Veterans newest recruits

The Mount Prospect Jaycees, The Drive-In Classics Band and Brass from the Past are the newest recruits to the Ye Olde Town Inn, located at 18 West Busse Avenue in downtown Mount Prospect, Share The Warmth efforts to raise money and collect clean, gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves for homeless military veterans.

A former enlisted United States Marine, Ye Olde Town Inn owner Tod Curtis is participating in Deerfield, Illinois based United Relief Foundation's Housing, Hiring and Helping Our Heroes "Stand Up so Our Homeless Heroes can Stand Down" efforts to help veterans deal with the rigors of being homeless.

On October 31, 7 pm, the Mount Prospect Jaycees will be having their Scaryoke, combining Halloween and karaoke, at the Ye Olde Town Inn. The Mount Prospect Jaycees are asking Scaryoke fun seekers to bring in a clean, gently used winter clothing item (coat, hat, gloves and scarf) for donation to the United Relief Foundation.

On November 10, 9 pm, The Drive- In Classics Band U.S. Marine Corp 262nd Birthday Bash at the Ye Olde Town Inn will be to benefit the United Relief Foundation's “Stand-Up” efforts and the public is encouraged to make a monetary or clothing donation to the Foundation.

On November 14, 7 pm, Brass From The Past Share The Warmth Benefit, will be held at the Ye Olde Town, for the United Relief Foundation's "Stand Up so Our Homeless Heroes can Stand Down" efforts.

In addition, the public will be able to put clothing donations in a collection box located inside the Ye Olde Town Inn entrance area after the restaurant opens at 3 pm.

Also, Curtis shall treat each customer to a free patriotic flag-on-top sundae with their meal when they bring in a clothing donation and then dines in his restaurant after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

“Stand Down” comes from the military practice of removing exhausted combat units from the field of battle to a place of relative safety where they can rest and recover.

The United Relief Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) humanitarian aid organization, will be collecting clothing donations at regular intervals for delivery to shelters and non-profit support organizations serving homeless veterans.

Housing, Hiring and Helping Our Heroes is part of the United Relief Foundation's Doing What Needs To Be Done campaign started in 2011 to make tangible, lasting differences in the lives of America's military veterans in need.
