New names emphasize culture change at Covenant Village of Northbrook
Changing to reflect what consumers expect and what health care reform demands, Covenant Village of Northbrook renovated and renamed its skilled nursing center. According to Executive Director Neil Warnygora, the new name, Brandel Health & Rehab, reflects the hospitality-focused culture of the center.
“Our new 18-bed short-term rehab center enables us to effectively partner with the health care system to provide cost-effective transitional care,” says Warnygora. “After an orthopedic, neurological or other inpatient hospital stay, patients can be discharged to us for intensive rehab.”
Privacy and person-centered care are priorities in the new rehab center. Private suites come with private showers at no additional change. They also have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and private phones. Dining features innovative to-the-table service. The clinical staff works with the patient's physician to develop a personalized plan of care. Therapy is available seven days a week.
“Short-term rehab is like a small neighborhood, separate from other elements of our skilled care center” says Warnygora. “Patient suites are larger and there are more specialized amenities. We're really catering to those who will be with us a short time.”
In a related move, Covenant Village changed the name of its assisted living residence to Axelson Assisted Living. Like the change to Brandel Health & Rehab, Warnygora says the name was changed to make it easier to identify the service provided by the residence.
