Des Plaines man sentenced for 2011 murder
A Des Plaines man convicted last month in the 2011 gang-related shooting death of a 15-year-old in Chicago has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, court records show.
James Galambos, 21, of the 900 block of Beau Drive, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sergio Torrez. He must complete 100 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for release.
He received credit for the 395 days he has spent in custody.
Galambos was also convicted of attempted first-degree murder of another teen who authorities say he wounded during the shooting. That victim was treated and released, authorities said. Galambos was sentenced to 26 years in prison on that charge. He must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.
A judge ordered Galambos serve the sentences consecutively.
