Village of Mount Prospect School Supply Drive a Success

The Community Connections Center organized its 3rd School Supply Drive. Victoria Bran, the Center's Coordinator, asked for more help from the community than in previous years. “School supply lists often include costly items that families struggling to pay basic rent, utilities and food cannot afford. This year we sent out a request so that the families could receive a more substantial package of supplies.”

The Mount Prospect Fire Department together with the Mount Prospect Fire Fighters Union donated nine backpacks filled with school supplies. The Rotary Club of Mount Prospect – Prospect Heights contributed $250.00 towards the drive.

Families were selected according to their financial circumstances. Each family's gross income was below the 125% federal poverty level, with most below the 100% FPL. 71 children from 36 families throughout Mount Prospect received the much needed supplies.

“Families spoke of their financial hardship, and expressed sincere gratitude for everyone's help,” said Bran.
