Lakes stops Maine East

Luke Istvanek scored twice, as Lakes’ boys soccer team defeated host Maine East 4-2 Wednesday night.

Ramon Marin knocked in a penalty kick and also had an assist for the Eagles, whose other goal came from Trevor Ray. Mark Gerits and Rich Galat also had assists, as Lakes improved to 2-1.

Stevenson 3, Loyola 0: Mike Weinstein had 2 goals for the Patriots in their opening game of the Glenbrook South tournament. Hayden Ford also scored, with Toshiki Niimi assisting. Joe Hugener assisted on both goals by Weinstein.

Quentin Low made 7 saves in earning the shutout, as Stevenson improved to 2-0.

Warren 3, Mundelein 0: At Glenbrook South, the Blue Devils got goals in their tournament opener from Marquette-bound Daniel Szczepanek, Nick Wegrzynowicz and Auner Solis.

Warren got assists from Tony Severini, Rafa Macias and Sean Kirwan.
