Elmhurst Healthcare formally opens Addison center
Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare formally opened its newest building Sunday afternoon, giving residents of Addison and adjoining communities access to a full range of health services.
The new, 55,000-square-foot Addison Health Center celebrated its grand opening with a party at 303 W. Lake St., adjacent to Indian Trail Junior High School. The new building replaces the former health care facility located at that site.
Services provided at the new building include immediate care, OB/GYN services, radiology and more. The Prairie-style building was designed inside and out to be welcoming and reduce anxiety.
Shauna Schuda, public relations specialist for Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare, said the need for an expanded Addison site became all the more acute after the recent closure of many services at EMH’s Berteau location in downtown Elmhurst.
“We were seeing this area become a desert when it came to these services,” Schuda said. “We’re so happy now to provide a range of state-of-the-art health programs to residents of the Addison area.”
Sunday’s grand opening party included food, health-related games for families, and musical accompaniment by Radio Disney. Addison emergency vehicles were on hand, and attendees got a chance to tour the new facility. Schuda said 2,500 families were expected to attend.
The Addison Health Center now becomes one of the three main sites in the EMH network, joining the main hospital campus on Brush Hill Road in Elmhurst and the Lombard Health Center on Main Street in Lombard. Numerous smaller facilities are also part of the network.
