Active Schaumburg area seniors to compete in Silver Games

Schaumburg Park District and Friendship Village of Schaumburg are teaming up for four active days for seniors.

The Fifth Annual Silver Games for seniors ages 62 and older will be held Sept. 11 to 14 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road; Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road; Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road; and Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road.

“The seniors always enjoy themselves during the games,” said Park District Senior Center Supervisor Lisa Perrone. “It's a great way to get exercise and make new friends.”

The 28 friendly competitions include golf, fishing, Texas Hold'em, bags, pool, basketball, badminton, pickleball, ping pong, swimming and bocce ball. A spaghetti dinner and bingo will close the event on Sept. 14.

Registration is available at the Senior Center, located inside the Community Recreation Center, and Friendship Village. Registration deadline is Aug. 31. Cost is $10 for unlimited competition entries. Additional fees include $15 for golf and $12 for the spaghetti dinner.
