Cary Farmers Market open Sundays

Submitted by Cary Grove Chamber of Commerce

Free chamber bags for the first 100 attendees and free chances to win bags of Farmers Market groceries are just some of the special activities planned for Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Cary Farmers Market.

The Cary Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays in the north commuter parking lot near the intersection of High Road and West Main Street in downtown Cary.

The first Sunday of the month is Special Event Day at the farmers market. In addition to the free shopping bags, there will be outdoor entertainment by the Wiggleos and additional vendors with new products.

The Cary Farmers Market offers a wide selection of items, with the variety changing with the seasons. Some market fare this year includes fresh vegetables such as corn, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant, beets, squash, radishes, peas, green beans, spinach, and several varieties of tomatoes; fresh fruits; baked goods such as pies, breads, cookies, muffins, and cupcakes; and specialty items such as jellies, salad dressings; herbs, flowers, plants, and more.

Each week the selection varies with the harvest. New this year are local organic farmers offering fresh produce and herbs, and an expanded variety of baked goods.

The next first Sunday Special Event Days will be Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. The Cary Farmers Market will run through Sept. 30.
