Spring Valley offers firefly programs this July

Brighten your night with firefly exploration.

Schaumburg Park District's Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, will offer families two unique opportunities to enjoy and learn about the natural summer light show provided by fireflies. Spring Valley's prairies and woodlands provide some of the best firefly viewing in the area.

Firefly Fandango will be offered from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., July 7. The program will begin with a short discussion on fireflies and their ‘cool' light. Groups will then go on a twilight wagon ride to view the incredible display provided by Spring Valley's abundant fireflies. The fee for this program is $12 per resident family and $16 per non-resident family. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Lights in the Night, set for 8 to 9:30 p.m., July 20, is a special program for children ages 6 to 8 that will provide an opportunity to learn about fireflies and go on a twilight hike. Pre-registration is required by July 18 for this program. The fee is $6.30 per resident and $9.45 per non-resident.
