Schaumburg Park District heads west in summer musical

Schaumburg Park District heads west in its summer musical production!

The District's theater program will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein's western love story at 7 p.m., July 20, 6 p.m., July 21 and 2 p.m., July 22 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road.

“Audiences of all ages will love this romantic comedy set on the frontier,” said Beth Waller, the District's cultural arts supervisor. “The large cast is full of energy as they sing Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' and People Will Say We're In Love.”

The classic musical is set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which a handsome cowboy and a winsome farm girl play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. There is no doubt they will succeed in a new life together.

Tickets are $11 for ages 13 years and older, and $6 for children. Children under age 2 are free if held.
