Chamber has new representatives in Miss Cary, Miss Fox River Grove 2012

The Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce crowned the new 2012 Miss Cary and 2012 Miss Fox River Grove title winners at their Business Scholarship Pageant May 19 at Cary-Grove High School.

2012 Miss Cary Katey Kelleher is the daughter of Patrick and Laura Kelleher. A junior at Cary-Grove High School, her hobbies include dancing and singing and she is involved in the Acapella Choir and Link Crew, a mentoring group at school. Katey served as a teaching assistant in the life skills classroom at Cary-Grove. She plans to major in psychology and work with special needs children.

2012 Miss Fox River Grove Keely Robinson is the daughter of Mark Robinson. She is a junior at Cary-Grove High School where she is a member of Interact, a community service group, and the Acapella Choir. Keely, who loves to sing and dance, has been involved in the school’s musicals and plans to major in music and minor in nursing. She volunteers in the summer at vacation Bible school.

Other pageant winners include Devin Carlson, Miss Cary first runner up, who won a $250 scholarship, and Maddie Gronset, Miss Cary second runner up, who won a $100 scholarship, and Maddy Zuelke, Miss Fox River Grove first runner up, who won a $250 scholarship. Devin was also voted Miss Photogenic, and Keely was voted Miss Congeniality by the other pageant contestants.

Contestants competing in the pageant this year for the title of Miss Cary were Devin Carlson, sponsored by SERVPRO of Southern McHenry County; Margaret Gray, sponsored by Cary-Grove Foot & Ankle Center; Rachel Smith, sponsored by Modern Wave Salon and Spa; Madeline Gronset, sponsored by Cary Travel Express; Arianna Harris, sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts; Katey Kelleher, sponsored by Cary Grove Performing Arts Centre; Alexis Laverdiere, sponsored by Frisch & Barrett Insurance Agency; Lauren Lowe, sponsored by Malooley Sport & Family Chiropractic; Crystal Sogar, sponsored by H&R Block; Natalie Lind, sponsored by Home State Bank; and Shannon Tryon, sponsored by Wickstrom Auto Group. Contestants running for the Miss Fox River Grove title were Holly Hagedorn, sponsored by Merle Norman Cosmetics; Abby Nick, sponsored by Brunch Café; Maddy Zuelke, sponsored by Stone Hill Shopping Center; and Keeley Robinson, sponsored by Sage Products Inc.

The process leading up to the Miss Cary Miss Fox River Grove Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills and knowledge about local business. The contestants are formally introduced to the business community and area leaders, get involved in community service, and are trained in speaking and presentation skills. The evening of the pageant the contestants participate in an evening gown competition, an interview session and give a live presentation on their business sponsor.
