Cary Battle of the Bands winner kicks off series

The Cary Area Battle of the Bands, hosted by the Cary Park District, was held May 19 at Lions Park.

The winning band, Dead Authority, will represent the Cary area in the regional Battle of the Bands held in Algonquin this summer.

The band, along with second-place band U and What Army? will kick off the Cary Park District Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park, off Silver Lake Road.

On June 21, Put on your “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Rock Around the Clock” to your favorite rock ’n’ roll oldies with Rockin’ Fenderskirts.

On June 28, Green Thirteen has strong male and female lead vocalists and experienced musicians covering popular — contemporary to classic — rock to pop music.

On July 12, Parrothead Express features music from Jimmy Buffett, The Beach Boys, The Safaris, The Ventures and more. They will entertain you with a cappella vocals, drum show and audience participation.

On July 19, Run 4 Covers is a musical assault of hits from four decades of rock, pop, and dance in the Chicago area.
